Jennifer Skalak’s path to the legal profession is one defined by service, perseverance, and a lifelong commitment to justice. A U.S. Navy veteran, Jennifer served proudly as a helicopter crewman from 2001 to 2008, deploying in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom. Her years in the military instilled in her the values of discipline, accountability, and teamwork — principles she carries into every client relationship today.

After leaving the Navy, Jennifer began her law enforcement career in San Diego, California, where she worked as a patrol officer. Her dedication to public service continued when she transitioned to corrections, serving as a parole officer for the State of Mississippi in Pontotoc County. Through this experience, she developed a deep understanding of the criminal justice system and the importance of compassion and fairness when working with people at life’s most challenging moments.

While working full-time as a parole officer, Jennifer earned her Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice with an emphasis in Police Administration from the University of Mississippi. Her passion for justice didn’t stop there — in 2022, she was accepted into the University of Mississippi School of Law, where she earned her Juris Doctor in 2025. During law school, she gained hands-on experience working with Rutledge and Davis, PLLC, further refining her skills in advocacy and client care.

Following graduation, Jennifer returned to her hometown of New Albany, Mississippi, to open Skalak Law, a practice built on integrity, empathy, and a genuine desire to serve her community. Drawing on her unique background in military service, law enforcement, and corrections, she approaches every case with discipline, practical insight, and an unwavering commitment to her clients’ best interests.

When she’s not working, Jennifer enjoys spending time with her family, working out, and exploring the outdoors. An avid hiker, she completed the Appalachian Trail from Springer Mountain, Georgia, to Mount Katahdin, Maine, in 2017 — a journey that mirrors her dedication to endurance, purpose, and personal growth.
